20/8/2014 - The Combinatorial Optimization of LED Street Light


Peaks in LED flood lighting lifespan patterns can be modeled with the help of analytical functions. In this way, the widely used function of LED street light represents, in many cases, a good approximation to the real LED tube lifespan profiles. This is especially important when there is strong overlap between adjacent LED light reflections. In fact, it is necessary to separate the contribution of the different LED street light peaks. For example, in order to obtain information about LED tube quantities from the parameters, we need to describe the shape and width of the LED street light. For severely overlapped LED light reflections, we may consider many peak combinations since different parameters can exist and generate the same or similar LED street light profile. For this reason, a figure of LED tube lifespan and merit can be used to quantitatively assess the product quality. This is a typical LED street light combinatorial optimization problem. Due to the fact that there are not any exact methodologies to find the optimal solution to detect LED tube lifespan, evolutionary algorithms are used for this purpose in general. LED street light companies and industries in both the conventional and alternative lighting systems fundamentally operate the cycle according to LED tube lifespan. However, the conventional lighting system has been in place successfully for a longer period of time and users have become used to it. Therefore, during that period competition for the adoption of LED lighting technologies, consumers of LED street light have felt somewhat hesitant in the first place. Thus, the technology and products of the conventional lighting system obviously have built up hardware infrastructures as a matter of fact. In other words, the alternative lighting system as well as LED flood lights lack this historically accumulated position. 


However, in some cases, the lighting structures can be weak and improvements are required as LED tube lifespan has been raised. The measurement indicators of LED tube domain are specific in terms of the structure, the management, and the overall performance. As the experimental LED street light profiles can present many peaks that are severely overlapped, it is necessary to select the best LED model among a large set of reasonably good solutions. Of course, it will take some time to determine the best solution and the process might be computationally intensive without any doubt. This is because this is a combinatorial optimization problem that is related to LED tube lifespan. The proposed lighting technologies will increase the performance of LED street lighting relative to the overall implementation process. The objective of the proposed LED street light solution will be measured in terms of compliance to the original model according to five compliance levels and goals.
