We've seen a number of reports claiming that a number of China-based
manufacturers plan to introduce curved-display smartphones in the near
future. The latest report which surfaced claimed that Xiaomi Mobile, Meizu, Oppo and Gionee are working on such phones. Well, a new rumor surfaced recently, courtesy of MochaRQ. According
to this industry insider, the Xiaomi Mi 5S and MI Note 2 are coming,
and both of them will sport curved displays. He also says that the Xiaomi Mi5
will sport a slightly different screen size, a pressure sensitive
display, the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, and a dual-lens camera.
This handset will, allegedly, going to be announced in August, before
Apple announces their new iPhone. The Mi Note 2, on the other hand, will
be powered by the Snapdragon 820, and will sport a 5.7-inch fullHD
(1920 x 1080) display, at least according to MochaRQ. He also mentioned
that this phablet will feature a ceramic body (just like the Xiaomi Mi5 Pro), and might launch alongside the Mi 5S, if not sooner. Now, the industry insider also said that these Xiaomi Mi 5S and Xiaomi MI Note 2
phones won't sport the 'Dual Edge' display, but will have a curved
display similar to the Galaxy Note Edge, with only one curved side. This
definitely comes as a surprise considering Samsung really didn't enjoy
all that much success with the Galaxy Note Edge, while the Galaxy S6
Edge, S6 Edge Plus and S7 Edge are a completely different story. Source: Xiaomi Device
