China-based Xiaomi device has conquered smartphones in the region, and dabbled in tablets, smart home gadgets, and fitness trackers. What's next? Drones. The
Xiaomi drone looked remarkably like Hong Kong-based Yuneec’s Typhoon H
drone, raising the question of whether the drone could be a
collaboration between the two companies. However, Xiaomi’s smartphones
have very similar designs to its competitors; it doesn’t sell
smartphones in the US for fear of patent lawsuits. Xiaomi plans to
unveil its Mi Drone on Wednesday, and according to Bloomberg, it will
cost about $600. Xiaomi did not respond to a request for comment, but
the company's marketing director told Bloomberg that the Mi Drone will
indeed come with a "very thin margin." At $610, the Xiaomi Mi Drone
could find a slice of the market looking for a budget-friendly device
with all of the features customers would expect to find in higher-end
devices, a formula that helped Xiaomi stand out in the smartphone
market. Source: Xiaomi Device
