The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is rumored to feature a flat-screen variant with a lower price tag. Talks circulated after what was believed to be a flat screen version of the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 surfaced on TENAA. This information comes straight from Xiaomi’s Marketing Director Zang Zhiyuan on the company’s official blog. He confirmed that there won’t be any flat-screened variant of the Mi Note 2. This expected variant was supposedly going to be lower priced than the Mi Note 2 with dual-edge curved display. But he said that launching an affordable variant of the Mi Note 2 would affect the sales of the Mi Note 2 and Xiaomi Mi MIX in the high-end smartphone market. He added that it would also hamper the entry of Xiaomi into the high-end smartphone market. The Mi Note 2, priced at RMB 3,499 (approximately Rs 35,000), is one of Xiaomi’s most expensive smartphones so far.
The dual-curved screen is one of its most popular features, which also significantly increases the overall price. Users were hoping that the company would unveil a flat screen Xiaomi Mi Note 2 that may be cheaper than its $622 counterpart.
On the contrary, Xiaomi Mi Note 2 fans remain optimistic that the company will launch a more affordable version of the product. It may include less-powerful but decent components and launch in 2017. For those comparing flagship phones, such as Xiaomi Mi6, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is actually competitively priced. Source: Xiaomi Mobile
