Xiaomi recently unveiled the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X smartphone in China, and now a new Redmi smartphone has been leaked on the Tenaa site. The smartphone with model number MAE136 has passed through the Chinese certification site. Chinese media claims that the device listed could be the Xiaomi Redmi 5 smartphone. As per TENAA listing, the MAE136 will feature a 5-inch HD display (720×1280 pixels). There will be an octa-core processor in MAE136, clocked at 1.4GHz with 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM (expandable up to 128GB via microSD card). It will run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.
On the connectivity front, it will support 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), GPS, and a microUSB port. Sensors on the device include Gravity, Distance and Light. The dimensions of the device are 139.24 × 69.94 × 8.65 mm. It weighs 150 grams. The smartphone could be launched in gold, rose gold, matte black, and dark grey colour variants.
While other tech giants like Nokia, Samsung, and Motorola are gearing up for the MWC 2017, Xiaomi has decided to skip it entirely. This could be because of the delay in launch of the Xiaomi Mi6 smartphone. Samsung Galaxy S8, which is also tipped to sport the latest Snapdragon 835 chipset, is set to be the first device to launch with the SoC. This means that other manufacturers have to either compromise with an older SoC or delay the launch of their devices. Source: Xiaomi Mobile
