Posté sur Acne Treatment
By Randy R

Getting rid of acne permanently is one of your highest priorities. Everybody has to deal with acne breakouts. Remember when you got your first pimple, you wanted to get rid of it as quickly as possible. What happened was that a type of oil, called Sebum, clogged up your pores. Sebum is produced to lubricate your skin. This resulted in acne that probably gave you a scare or a couple of nightmares. Your friends at school might also have made fun of you which makes this issue even worse. Let us look at four ways how you can treat your acne breakouts.

Wash Your Face Frequently

You need to wash your face frequently. Try washing it about twice a day with warm water and some soap. Wash it for about 5 to10 minutes. Too moisten up your dry face after washing it, apply a lotion that contains Benzoyl Peroxide. You should be able to buy this at your local store.

One thing you should never do is pop your pimple, because once you do, it will turn red and probably come back. This might also leave a mark on your face that will take a while to leave.

Do Not Touch It

Refrain from touching the zits on your face if you have not washed your hands. Touching your face with your fingers might spread the bacteria infected acne to other parts of your face. Other things that might come into contact with your face should be clean also, like blankets, clothing, jewelry, makeup, etc. Better be safe than sorry.

Remove Your Makeup

If you wear makeup, be sure to remove it before you go to bed. It is even better if you can remove it as soon as possible, slimming the chances that your pores might get clogged. When it comes to buying makeup, always make sure you purchase makeup that will not harm your skin or cause acne break outs. And if you have old makeup lying around, do not apply it on your face, just throw it away.

Keep Hair Out Of Your Face

Try to keep your hair away from your face, by keeping it pulled back. This tip is especially useful if you use hair gels or hair creams, because these hair products contain oils that might clog up pores.

Follow the tips discussed and you will be on your way to having clear skin. The best thing to remember is not to panic, when you get zits. It is a normal part of life, but the advice given are a couple of ways to help you combat your pimples and get rid of acne permanently.

14/11/2009 - Anti-Convulsants and Acne

Posté sur Acne Treatment
By Mayo Underwood

There is current research that shows the relationship between anti-convulsants and acne is not as straightforward as the popular press would have us believe.

For example, one research study showed that this class of drugs does not cause an increase in album secretion with increased acne problems (Br Med J (Clin Res Ed). 1983 December 3; 287(6406): 1669-1670. )

The group tested was hospitalized for long term care and was being treated with a wide variety of anti-convulsant medications. Compared to a sample of non-hospitalized patients (2176 people), there was no difference in acne levels because of the medications.

However, some websites list anti-convulsants such as Dilantin and indicate they create acne and that these drugs are problems.

There are a few references to side effects of Dilantin (phenytoin) that affect physical appearance.

• Hirsutism or the excess growth of hair on the extensor surfaces of the extremities and on the trunk and face.
• Coarseness of facial features i.e. the enlargement of the lips and thickening of the scalp and face.
• Generalized cutaneous eruptions which can appear on any part of the body. Since this includes hair follicles, the reaction may be thought to be acne.

Dilantin has been associated with an acne-resembling condition called Rosacea (as of March 09).

Another skin-related side effect of Dilantin is eczema, a form of dermatitis.a
