• 27/11/2014 - Take On Black Friday Like A Pro With Our Definitive Shopping Guide

Black Friday may be a big deal across the Atlantic but now it's definitely making its presence known on British soil. If you're a complete BF newbie, then here's a bit of context; Black Friday is held annually the day after Thanksgiving in the US and it's without a doubt the biggest shopping day of the year — thanks to the MASSIVE discounts that practically every store has on offer. And, keeping up with the times, there is also a Cyber Monday which echos the same in-store deals following the weekend.

One day on which all the sales start? No you're not dreaming. It's happening right here, tomorrow!

It might be a fairly new concept to us but as overlaps with what is already one of the busiest shopping weekends in the UK, things are set to get a bit cray cray over the two-day sale bonanza.

Fear not; we're here to make sure you get the most out of the discounts with our guide on how to survive and thrive Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This, ladies, is your best chance of succeeding...

Which Stores Are Getting Involved?

As you'd expect, some brands are being somewhat tight-lipped about if they're taking part and just how much they'll be discounting but we have it on good authority that these amazing brands WILL be getting in on the Black Friday action. You might just want to take a note of them...

Try To Work Out EXACTLY What You Want

When you're battling against thousands of other people, it pays to know exactly what you want to buy. Now that we've let you in on some of the brands taking part, you should definitely take a minute to check out what they've got that you actually want/need/can't live without. Make a note of the product code and then, as soon as Friday hits, you can simply type it into the super-handy search and it'll take you right there; an on-the-spot decision is never a good idea so it pays to do your home work. If deciding on your final purchases early is too much to ask, at least have an idea of what you're after and stick to it. Finding yourself searching through perfumes when you were really looking for a new pair of heels for your Christmas party will waste your time and will increase the chances of the item you actually want selling out.

Changed Your Mind? Know Your Return Rights

While most stores won't change their returns policy for the sake of the weekend, it always pays to check it out before you buy. We advise getting all of your items in your virtual basket then opening up a second window and taking a quick look at the policy; just in case.

Refresh Fingers At The Ready

As the majority of us will be stuck at our desks when the action gets underway on Friday am, you can bet that some websites will experience issues due to the influx of customers logging on at the same time. The spinning wheel of death or that know-it-all egg-timer are guaranteed to make an appearance, and it's most likely you'll encounter items 'disappearing' from your shopping bag (how we LOATHE that). Speed is key, but sometimes there's only so much you can do. Just breathe and don't let the refresh button out of your sight...
