Changes to National Lottery rules during coronavirus12/5/2020

Lottery bosses at Camelot say they are keeping a close eye on the EuroMillions draw in particular, as the outbreak has hit the continent much worse than the UK so far.

Lottery players are being reminded that they can play online and on the app, as well as claiming prizes on the app.Among the rule changes, players can now top up their online accounts by just £5 - rather than the previous £10 minimum.

This is designed to help people control how much they are spending on lottery tickets while playing online, something that would have happened more naturally if they were buying tickets from shops.

Camelot CEO Nigel Railton said: "With the government’s measures relating to social distancing being critical, I’d like to remind you that tickets can be bought on the National Lottery website or by downloading the official National Lottery App from the App store or Google Play.

"You can now deposit a reduced amount of £5 to fund your ticket purchases, and winnings up to £500 will be paid straight into your account."

Camelot has also changed the number of weeks in advance that you can buy a ticket for EuroMillions' draws.Mr Railton said: " We are monitoring the situation daily as it unfolds, and while we do so, we have limited the number of weeks you can play the game in advance.

"We will be sure to keep you informed of any changes to EuroMillions if and when the situation develops. I am pleased to say that EuroMillions continues to operate as normal for now."

The changes come after the National Lottery announced it will be giving £300million to community causes designed to help people during the coronavirus outbreak.
