5/8/2016 - LENOVO ThinkPad Edge E430 Notebook Battery

A £449 starting price means this isn’t an unaffordable phone either. And while, like all Nexus devices, storage is not expandable, Google has priced storage upgrades far more reasonably than Apple or Samsung. Above the £449 32GB version, a 64GB Nexus 6P costs £499, and the 128GB £579. The top model is £210 cheaper than the 128GB iPhone 6S Plus. The Nexus 6P doesn’t have any frivolous extras such as an IR transmitter, but what hardware extras it does include are of high quality. It has a pair of front-facing stereo speakers that are only slightly less powerful-sounding than the standard-setting HTC One M9 BoomSound pair. Plus there’s an excellent fingerprint scanner on its rear.

Fingerprint reader
Like the also-Huawei-made Honor 7, the Nexus 6P has a small fingerprint scanner sitting roughly where your index finger naturally lands on the back of the phone. It is extremely fast and accurate, and can cope with slightly wet fingers much better than many other phones.Compared to the Honor 7’s already fast and accurate fingerprint reader, we found the Nexus 6P’s to be consistently even more accurate.

Version 6.0 Marshmallow is the first version of Android to support finger scanners natively. As standard it’ll unlock your phone and can be used to validate Google Play purchases. However, with a standard API available it will likely be used in hundreds of apps within the next few months.Google says “fingerprint data is stored securely and never leaves your device,” that the data is encrypted, and as standard Marshmallow is fully encrypted on top of that. The benefit of the standardised API is that your fingerprint data itself is never actually shared with any apps using the scanner. They will instead receive a tokenised version instead.

Battery Life
To help offset the Nexus 6P’s large screen, it has a large 3480mAh battery. To access it you’d need to dismantle the phone as, like all recent Nexus devices, it’s not designed to be user-replaceable.It provides good if not truly remarkable stamina. When left browsing the web while music plays in the background, the Nexus 6P lasted seven hours 50 minutes. That’s solid but predictably the Moto X Play, which has both a larger battery and a lower-resolution screen, lasted two and a half hours longer. When playing an H264 video on loop it lasts for 10.5 hours, again a fair result but the Moto X Play once again lasted two hours longer.

In general use the Nexus 6P comfortably lasts a full day with moderately intense use. However, a daily charge is still likely to be needed. Android 6.0 M makes some improvements to battery life, but these appear to focus on using less power in standby rather than active use. For more aggressive power saving there is a Battery Saver mode, but this continues to be an ‘emergency-only’ setting, turning the top and bottom of the display orange. The Nexus 6P is among the first devices to use a USB Type-C port rather than the more common Micro USB. The benefit is that it’s reversible and, in this case, the included 15W charger gets you from a flat battery to 100% charge in two hours.

However, annoying drawbacks include not being ableto charge from your computer or even transfer photos to a laptop over a cable because the included cable uses USB-C at both ends. It is perhaps a little too forward-thinking for its own good in this case. A USB-C to USB cable is the must-have accessory for any Nexus 6P owner. The Nexus 6P is an excellent phone to showcase Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Thanks to well-executed features at a fair price, the Nexus 6P is one of the best large-screen Android phones around. However, with phones like the LG G4 and Samsung Galaxy S6 already dropping significantly in price at many retailers, the Nexus 6P isn’t quite as outstanding value as other Nexus devices, even with its more recent price drop.

Toshiba has introduced three new Windows 10 notebooks for the education market, ranging from the typical student system to ones that have trendier features -- with price tags to match. The Tecra C40-C1400ED is the type of utilitarian laptop that you might expect to be issued by schools: a 14-inch system with Intel Celeron 3855U processor, 4 gigs of RAM, and budget-friendly starting price of $399.99. It does include a 128GB solid-state drive instead of a traditional hard drive, and features conveniences like a spill-resistant keyboard and a user-replaceable battery. Also in its favor is Toshiba's "Quality Replacement Guarantee" -- if the display or key components (memory, storage drive, motherboard) fail within the first year of ownership, the laptop will be swapped for a new one.

The Portégé A30t-C1300ED comes with the same guarantee, but also features some more upscale specs. These include a 1,920x,1080 (full HD) 13.3-inch touchscreen display, a battery that Toshiba claims will deliver up to 11 hours of battery, and security features like a Trusted Platform Module and the company's EasyGuard technology. It retains the Celeron 3855 CPU, 4GB of memory, and 128GB SSD, however, while bumping the cost to $629.99.

Last but certainly not least is the Portégé Z20t-C2100ED, which looks to cash in on the convertible craze. The 2-in-1 comes with a 12.5-inch full HD touchscreen that can be detached and used as tablet. Inside is an Intel Core i3-m3-6Y30 processor (and the same amount of RAM and storage as the other systems), along with a pair of batteries, which provide a whopping 17 hours of battery life, according to Toshiba. It's the priciest of the new trio, coming in at $999.99, though it does essentially combine two devices into one unit and is cheaper than the consumer configurations ZDNet's Sandra Vogel recently reviewed. All three new laptops come with Windows 10 Pro installed, and are available now from retailers specializing in selling PCs to institutions (CDW, PC Connections, etc.).Sony Electronics of San Diego, Calif., is recalling about 1,700 Panasonic battery packs used in Sony Electronics laptop computers in the U.S. and Canada. The lithium-ion battery packs can overheat, posing burn and fire hazards.

No incidents or injuries have been reported.
This recall involves Panasonic lithium-ion battery packs installed in 18 models of Sony’s VAIO Series laptop computers. The Panasonic battery packs were also sold separately and installed by Sony as part of repairs.
Panasonic battery packs included in this recall have model number VGP-BPS26 and part numbers 1-853-237-11 and 1-853-237-21. Panasonic battery pack model and part numbers are printed on the back of the battery pack. The battery packs, manufactured in China, were sold at Best Buy, Sony retail stores, other consumer electronic stores nationwide and online at www.store.sony.com and other websites from February 2013, through October 2013, for between $550 and $1,000 as part of Sony VAIO laptops and for about $170 for battery packs sold separately.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled battery packs, power off the laptop, remove the battery and follow instructions to obtain a free replacement. Until a replacement battery pack is received, consumers can use the laptop by plugging in the AC power only.
Consumers may contact Sony Electronics toll-free at 888-476-6988 from 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. (ET) Monday through Friday or 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. (ET) Saturday and Sunday or online at www.sony.com, click on “Support” and then “Support Alerts” for more information. Logitech's K380 multi-device keyboard was a boon for mobile device owners who wanted to quickly switch between typing into their main computer and a smartphone or tablet.

The peripherals giant has followed it up with the K780, which looks like a more convincing option for desktop (or even laptop) users thanks to its right hand-positioned 10-key numberpad. Obviously that makes it the longer, and therefore less bag-friendly option of the two. However, the K780 appears to bear all of the qualities of its predecessor. They include concave keys that make you feeling like you're tapping away on a silent typewriter, and an Easy-Switch button that lets you chop and change between up to three Bluetooth (or Wireless using a USB receiver) connected devices.

Handily, the K780 now sits in a base that features a rubberised slot for holding smartphones and tablets at a suitable angle for reading – and it's even big enough to accommodate Apple's iPad Pro.It means you won't have to crane your neck to look at your mobile device's display while typing out a message on WhatsApp when the device is resting on the table.Logitech is claiming that you'll squeeze up to 24 months of battery life out of the K780, which will be available to buy in July for £74.99 (around US$101 or AUS$136).Your iPhone's battery is fine. (Probably.) That doesn't mean you're getting the most out of it, though. If you feel like it's taking too long to keep your device up to speed, we've compiled a few things to know that will help you spend less time around an outlet.

If you're really concerned with speed, use a wall charger or external battery pack instead of your laptop's USB port. It might be less convenient, but it will allow to your transfer more amps of power at once. That means it will be faster. You might've heard that the only safe charger for your phone is the one that came with it. Nope! While some third-party alternatives can be sketchy, others from more reputable brands are totally fine, oftentimes better than the weak one Apple throws in the box. Anker in particular is one name many reviewers, myself included, have found trustworthy. In other words, keep it cool. The lithium-ion battery in your phone is a physical, delicate thing, and as a result, it doesn't play nice with extreme heat - the kind that some tight-fitting cases

While maybe not a charging tip, being mindful of everything your phone is doing is something that will help better preserve your battery in the long run.You can shut the screen off, for one. (Or at least turn down the brightness.) You can dig into the notifications menu and turn off push alerts for lower priority apps. You can download those videos and songs you want for your commute instead of streaming them. You can disable location services or mobile data when you're not using them. And so on.

You don't have to go crazy with this stuff - lots of programs are designed to be efficient with WiFi, Bluetooth, or GPS, and you don't want to cripple your phone's utility. You just shouldn't go all out all the time.
