24/2/2017 - Sony vgp-bps21_s Battery

Perhaps it was impulsive, but I bought it. I took it back to New York and hooked up a discounted, but new, 21” Samsung monitor. I crammed the enormous 18 by 7-inch tower under my desk. The keyboard was a hand-me-down from my dad, who accidentally purchased a Corsair mechanical keyboard for himself off the internet and was deterred by the clanking. My mouse, honestly, I could care less about. I found it in a box in my room. After installing Windows and running a LAN cable through the apartment, the first thing I did was download Battlenet and play Overwatch. As a Roadhog main, my hook percentage is at least five percent higher now that the game runs better. I’ve picked up some offensive heroes who require cutting reflexes now that I have a rig that can handle it. And, galvanized by this sudden boost in performance, I solo-queue in competitive mode nearly every night now. I’ll add that, in the past, I was hesitant to speak up in voice chat because I am a woman. Now, I am vocal. I have a new confidence stemming from boosted gameplay and, frankly, “buying in.”

Perhaps it’s all a mindgame. And, undeniably, I was a victim of some very good marketing from the PC gaming industry. I think back before I felt comfortable making this sort of big, meaningful purchase and wonder what was stopping me aside from price—impromptu quizzes at Best Buy, the super-fanatical culture of PC gaming? There are mental barriers-to-entry and traversing them are scary, even aside of money, and especially when they’re reinforced by others who already made the financial leap and constantly seek to justify it. But it’s a sad truth—“buying in” is a way of feeling at home.
If you still haven’t gotten around to doing your taxes, you’ve got a big advantage over the early birds: Huge discounts on H&R Block tax filing software, courtesy of Amazon. Those crossed out MSRPs you see? Those are the prices H&R Block actually charges, so we’re talking about serious savings here. If you need help deciding which tier to buy, H&R Block has a handy comparison chart here. The best part? When you file through this software, you can opt to receive all or a portion of your refund in the form of an Amazon gift card, which will net you a 10% bonus. So a $1,000 refund could become $1,100 in your Amazon account, which would more than make up for the cost of the software.

$230 might seem like a lot to spend on a set of dumbbells, but these Bowflex adjustable models take up way less room than a full rack of weights, and certainly cost less over time than a gym membership. Still not convinced? They have a 4.7 star review average from over 3,000 Amazon customers, and today’s all-time low price easily tops the $250 deal we saw around Black Friday. As part of a limited time launch sale, you can save $10 on the Eufy (that’s Anker’s brand for home goods) BodySense Smart Scale with promo code KINJA110 (black) or KINJA888 (white). In addition to functioning as a normal digital bathroom scale, the BodySense can measure metrics such as body fat percentage and body water, and sync all of that data over Bluetooth to your iOS or Android smartphone. You can see my impressions here, but it’s the most seamless and reliable smart scale I’ve ever personally used, and a great deal at $40.When you can get a dozen Philips LED bulbs for just $26, there’s really no reason not to upgrade every lamp in your house. These put out the brightness equivalent of a 60W incandescent, but with only 9W of electricity each. Plus, many local utility companies offer rebates when you buy these things, so they should pay for themselves in short order.

A few caveats to mention: These bulbs aren’t dimmable, which is par for the course at this price, but just be aware of it. Also, they’re daylight bulbs, which are great in rooms where you want to be active (think offices, the kitchen, bathrooms), but aren’t ideal in rooms where you want to relax. For those, you’ll want to opt for soft white bulbs for a few dollars more. While not perfect, the Moto Z is fairly unique in its ability to augment its capabilities via Moto Mods, and you can get started with the handset for $450 unlocked from B&H today, with no sales tax outside of New York and New Jersey. You know what they say; once you go vacuum insulated stainless steel, you never go back. This spacious 16 ounce Thermos can keep beverages cold for up to 24 hours, or hot for up to 12, and its lid even doubles as a cup to help avoid spillage. This model’s price fluctuates a lot, but today’s $18 deal is the best Amazon’s ever listed.Kubo and the Two Strings has everything a perfect family movie could need: beautiful animation, anthropomorphic animals, and a feisty, young main character that has to save the day. And for $12, it’s something that should be on your Blu-ray shelf.

It’s not often that Amazon features a laptop as one of its deals of the day, so anyone who uses a desktop at home or work should definitely check out this $270 Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga for their portable computing needs. Though this laptop runs Windows 10, its price is pretty similar to a lot of Chromebooks, though its 4GB of RAM, 128GB SSD, and power-sipping Intel Core M processor far exceed what you’d find in most of Google’s alternatives. The real highlight feature though is its IPS touchscreen. Sure, at 11.6", and 1366x768 resolution, this might not be your main computer. But since it’s a Yoga, you can flip it into all sorts of different poses. Need to carry it around? Turn it into a tablet. Finished working on a plane, and just want to watch a movie? Flip it into stand mode to get the keyboard out of the way.The promise of USB-C is great: One cable to connect all of your devices, laptops, tablets, smartphone. Unfortunately it comes with the big caveat that you might end up damaging your gear if you cheap out on a USB-C cable. But Satechi’s new Type-C Power Meter makes it easy to tell if your USB-C gadgets are at risk of getting fried, or under-powered, by a sketchy accessory.

Given the amount of power a USB-C cable is able to draw, upwards of 3 amps in order to charge a power-hungry laptop, you need to ensure you’ve got a high-quality cable or accessory that can handle the load. And as Google’s Benson Leung discovered, there’s even more risk to your electronics when you’ve got a cheap USB-C cable with an older USB connector on the other end that doesn’t properly regulate power draw. Buying USB-C cables and accessories from a reputable manufacturer is a good first step to protecting your devices, but there’s always the risk you’ve accidentally spent money on a convincing counterfeit. That’s where Satechi’s $30 Type-C Power Meter comes into play. The simple pass-through adapter connects between a USB-C cable and a USB-C device, providing real-time data about the power draw, in either direction, including details about voltage, amps, and the amount of energy that’s been transferred since it was first plugged in. The monitor can let you know if an external battery pack is providing the proper amount of power to a smartphone that it claims to, or if your MacBook or Chromebook is receiving sufficient power from a charging cable connected to its USB-C port to actually charge the battery.

What the monitor can’t do, however, is protect a device if there’s a detected problem in the power flow. It’s not a surge protector, nor does it have any built-in alarms or warnings because it has no idea what the power requirements are for whatever device you’re using it with. You’ll have to make sure you’re aware of how much power a device is supposed to be drawing, and confirm that it matches what the Type-C Power Meter is reporting, as soon as you plug it in. It might sound like it’s more trouble than it’s worth, but it’s definitely easier than trying to convince tech support that your laptop or smartphone smelled like burnt toast right out of the box.In a lawsuit filed today in California, Tesla lists six complaints against Anderson that basically all revolve around him allegedly breaking his contract and soliciting other Tesla employees to join him. Urmson and Aurora Innovation, the autonomous-drive company the two appear to have been trying to form together, are also named as defendants in the suit.Tesla has declined to comment beyond what’s in the suit, but Anderson disputed all of the company’s claims in an emailed statement.

“Tesla’s meritless lawsuit reveals both a startling paranoia and an unhealthy fear of competition,” Anderson told Jalopnik. “This abuse of the legal system is a malicious attempt to stifle a competitor and destroy personal reputations. Aurora looks forward to disproving these false allegations in court and to building a successful self-driving business.”The suit alleges that Anderson downloaded “hundreds of gigabytes of Tesla’s confidential and proprietary information” to a personal hard drive with the intent of using it to build his own competing company. It goes on to claim Anderson worked on his own project in Tesla’s offices, while on the clock for Tesla and using a Tesla laptop.According to Tesla’s suit, Anderson and Urmson were feeding each other names of co-workers they could each entice to join their project, with Anderson talking to people at Google and vice-versa in what Tesla posits was an attempt to cover their tracks, so to speak. Tesla also claims Anderson went as far as altering the timestamps of files and wiping his company-issued phone to destroy evidence of his breaches of contract.

The suit details that Anderson joined Tesla in 2014 as a Senior Program Manager, where he oversaw the people responsible for the “the design, development, and launch of Model X.” In November 2014, Anderson took a role Tesla describes as having “organizational (though not technical) oversight” of the team building hardware and software for the company’s Autopilot self-driving software. How exactly Tesla became aware of Anderson’s alleged breach of contract does not appear to be specifically spelled out.Bloomberg is reporting that Tesla wants a court order stopping Anderson, Urmson and Aurora Innovation from recruiting anyone who worked for Tesla in any capacity for a year after Anderson’s departure from the company. Tesla is also seeking an order blocking the use of “Tesla’s proprietary information related to autonomous driving.”The suit indicates that Tesla seeks monetary, non-monetary and punitive remedies against their complaint. In addition to the injunctive relief barring Anderson, Urmson and Aurora from solicting Tesla employees and using Tesla’s intellectual property, Tesla is seeking “compensatory damages in an amount to be proven at trial,” compensation for “prejudgment interest,” which means if the suit drags on, when it’s over, the defendants would be on the hook for some measurement of money lost since the suit was filed, and compensation for legal fees or money lost while the trial compensator of legal fees. And, “such other and further relief as the Court may deem just and proper” meaning any extra penalties the defendants can pick up.
